Mint Hill and Idewild Volunteer Fire Department provide this community with fire protection and paramedic emergency ambulance service. These departments are rated among the highest in the State. Mint Hill welcomed their own Police Department under Police Chief Brian Barnhardt on July 1, 2003.
A nonpartisan mayor and board of commmissioners, elected at large-biannually, govern the Town. They hold regualr meetings at the Town Hall on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Also, there is a planning board, board of adjustment and park and recreation commmittee, each meeting monthly. The public is encouraged to attend these meetings.
